Daniel Haller – Keys/Musical Director
Daniel started playing piano and guitar at a very young age. He began serious study of Advanced Music theory, arranging, jazz & classical piano at Mt Hood College, OR. He has graced many stages throughout Portland OR with various jazz quartets and rock bands. More current, Daniel has played in several local Central Coast Bands and is now the inspirational Musical Director and keyboard player for Sound Investment.
Rob O’Sullivan – Drums/Percussion
Rob’s enthusiasm for drumming started with Big Band Jazz. He has played at various jazz festivals throughout the country including the Monterey and Greeley Jazz Festivals. Rob has laid down the backbeat with various big band, jazz combos, rock and fusion groups. He now lays down the foundation for the sound that makes Sound Investment a Central Coast favorite.
Richard Ramsey – Sax
Richard Ramsey has been on the cutting edge of the Central Coast live music scene since moving to California in 1990 from the East Coast. Richard has been featured in various groups throughout the area where he showcases is impressive talent and skill as lead Saxophonist. He will capture your attention note after note.
Steve Philip – Bass/Vocals
Steve started his musical journey as a singer in his church choir at age 7, two years later he started studying trumpet & later that same year, the upright bass. Playing in both band & orchestra in school, he studied under teachers who were working musicians with Doc Severinson’s tonight show band. Later, as a music major at Rutgers/Livingston college, studied under jazz great Kenny Barron. Moved to the west coast in 1978, played all over Los Angeles through the 80’s with several bands. Arrived on the central coast in 1995 & played with several local bands including Shameless, 4 Wheel Drive & The Mooks. Steve brings strong vocals & solid bass lines to Sound Investment, along with a strong desire to make the audience forget their troubles & dance like no one’s watching! Let’s boogie!
Paul Franklin (aka “5”) – Guitarist / Vocals
A classical and Jazz trained musician, Paul started his music studies in Long Beach NY. After studying Piano and Trumpet, Paul eventually found his home on guitar. Moving to Los Angeles at the age of 15, and getting the musical nickname “5” he then started a professional music career in the Los Angeles area including the world famous Hollywood Sunset Strip, performing live at The Whiskey a Go Go, Rainbow, The Central (Viper Room) and many more. “5” has played with The Toxic Waffles, 3KO, YRI, Big Fun (w/Gene Hurwin & John Wackerman. His musical Style and influences range from Jazz, Funk, Punk, Rock and SKA from Andy Summers (The Police, Robin Ford (The Yellow Jackets), John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Thomas Dolby. Following 9/11 2001 Paul left a career as an Airline Pilot and moved to Switzerland and performed in Europe (including Switzerland Italy, Holland, and France). Since returning to the US in 2013 “5” is now back and living In the beautiful California Central Coast.
Butch Valko – SI’s Founder & Guitar Emeritus
Butch began playing professionally at age 14 as a guitar player. In the late 60s and early 70s, his band The Accumulation played at many Los Angeles-area venues including the Hollywood Palladium and the The Whiskey. He then formed an Orange County area favorite, Sundown Express, which worked with many artists such as The Platters and The Drifters. He was also lucky to work briefly with “The Divine Miss M” Bette Midler. His vocal grit lends itself well to old time rock’n’roll!
